How to “Write to Market” (Plotting and Tropes) - Derek Murphy

In this blog post, Derek Murphy talks about the importance of being able to "write to market" in order to be sure you books will sell.

He says:  "Writing to market is about satisfying readers, and making sure they read till the very end, so getting the conclusion right is critical".

Meanwhile, Hilary Mantel talks about whether to write for your audience or for yourself.

What do you think:  write for your audience or for yourself?  Please comment/share.  Thanks.

On another note, we are looking for short stories for a forthcoming anthology..  Please message us on this site if you would like more information or to submit your story.

Building a Better Novel, Part 1: The Foundation

I tend to be a pantser rather than a plotter.  Pantsers fly by the seats of our pants.  There are inherent drawbacks as well as rewards for using this method.  Rewards include the joy of discovery and the freedom to change things.

However, I am starting to explore plotting.  Plotting feels like a straitjacket to me, but Plotters tend to write a lot more books, and this definitely interests me!

Go here for this great blog post on Building a Better Novel.  She breaks it down into logical steps.  And remember, you can always change the narrative if it's not working for you.

Your street team can help you to write your book, and to market it afterwards.  For more about how to build your street team, go here to download Book Marketing Genius.
